How to Obtain an OLCC Service Permit in Oregon

  1. Take our state-approved Alcohol Server Education Course online
  2. Create an account on the OLCC's CAMP portal
  3. Fill out the alcohol service application and pay the fee
  4. Pass the OLCC exam through the CAMP portal

Once you finish the alcohol service training, we will report your course completion directly to the OLCC. You can save a screenshot of your training completion for your records. After you submit your application and pay the fee, the OLCC will electronically match your course completion with your application. Make sure your name and date of birth are listed the same on both your application and course enrollment. The OLCC will email you when you are approved to take the exam on the CAMP portal.

After passing the test in CAMP, you can download a temporary permit from the state website. The temp allows you to legally sell alcohol. It is valid until the OLCC emails you your official alcohol server permit after validating your eligibility. You may also log back into the CAMP portal to download additional copies or take a screenshot on your phone to keep as proof.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who regulates Oregon alcohol sales?

The OLCC regulates alcoholic beverage sales and service. It enforces state laws and ensures drinks are served safely and responsibly.

What are the age requirements for alcohol service in Oregon?

All alcohol sellers and servers must complete an OLCC-approved training program and pass the state's alcohol service exam prior to employment. You must be 21 years old to mix or serve spirits. However, individuals between 18 and 20 can earn a minor permit allowing them to pour only beer and wine at establishments where food is also sold.

What can I expect from the official OLCC exam?

Once you finish our state-approved training course, we will submit the record of your completion to the OLCC. After the course completion and your permit application are matched electronically, the OLCC will send an email indicating that you can log in to the CAMP portal to access the test.

You must log in to the CAMP portal to take the exam. The OLCC alcohol server exam consists of 50 questions. You must score 70% or higher to pass, but you'll have unlimited test attempts.

Upon passing, you can download your temporary permit from the CAMP portal to show your employer while waiting for the official one to be emailed by the OLCC.

What is the OLCC permit renewal process?

To renew, you must take an OLCC-approved Alcohol Server Education class before your card expires. The renewal process is identical to applying for the original certificate. Students must enroll in an in-person or online course with an accepted provider and pass the OLCC-proctored exam via the CAMP portal.

You can reapply for your permit up to six months before your current one expires. We recommend signing up for the training well in advance of your certificate's expiry date to prevent delays that could affect your ability to work.

Our convenient course makes it easy to meet your license renewal requirements online.

Is additional training required to serve food?

If you're planning to work in a restaurant or other establishment where both food and drinks are sold, you'll also likely need to take a food handler course. Oregon mandates that anyone working in food service must obtain a food handler card within 30 days of hire.

Need both food and alcohol training? Bundle them together and save with our Oregon alcohol server and food handler package!

What can I do if I lose my permit?

You can download a replacement from the CAMP portal anytime at no additional charge.
